  • Director of Building Sciences

    20+ years of experience. Salary negotiable.

  • Building Sciences Specialist

Core Requirements

  • Verification that ethics, empathy, safety, organization, presentation, and happiness are all important to you.

  • Prior knowledge of, and/or a strong desire to continually learn building envelope science.

  • Architectural, engineering, consultant, or project management experience directly related to resolving building envelope problems.

  • Curiosity and puzzle solving skills that will enable you to diagnose complex building envelope problems.

  • Organizational and multi-tasking skills that will enable you to manage a portfolio of ongoing client work.

  • Communication skills that will enable you to build meaningful and rewarding relationships with clients and coworkers.

  • Management and coaching skills that will enable you to lead an effective team.

  • The desire to frequently visit interesting clients and historic job sites within the city of Boston.

  • Strong document layout, CAD, and spreadsheet skills that will enable you to efficiently create presentations that delight clients.

  • The confidence to contribute to exterior photography, leak testing, and building forensic work at nearly any height.

  • Familiarity with, or the desire to become conversant with, Boston and Massachusetts building codes.

  • The confidence to intervene and correct situations that appear unsafe, out-of-code, or that don't meet client expectations.

  • An awareness that efficiently and effectively producing and presenting budgets, proposals, reports, presentations, bids, and other documents -on time- is essential to keeping our clients happy!

  • Occasionally, you will need to climb ladders, traverse staging, ride in a lift bucket, pick stuff up, put stuff down, run a hose, use tools, brave the elements, climb stairs, and on rare occasions…use a porta-potty.

  • Note: We don’t expect junior applicants to meet every one of these requirements. BRS will train you.

  • For the remainder of 2022, team members must be able to travel to our Dorchester Avenue office in Boston for 7AM (3-4 days per week / parking is not a problem). At the end of 2022, BRS is moving to Canton, MA.
